How do you scent your soaps?
Our natural, handmade vegan soaps are scented exclusively with pure essential oils. We never use synthetic fragrance oils, ensuring that each soap is naturally aromatic.
Are your products palm oil-free?
Yes, all Zenoté soaps are 100% palm oil-free. Founder Andrea’s time in Borneo opened our eyes to the destruction caused by palm oil production, which threatens the habitats of endangered species like orangutans. While there are initiatives for sustainable palm oil, we believe the current governance lacks sufficient traceability. That’s why we’re dedicated to keeping our UK-based vegan soap range completely free from palm oil and any hidden byproducts.
Do you use sodium hydroxide in your soaps?
Yes, sodium hydroxide, also known as lye, is essential in making true, cold-processed soap. During the saponification process, sodium hydroxide transforms, leaving none in the final bar, making it safe for your skin.
Can you make soap without sodium hydroxide?
No, all genuine soaps require sodium hydroxide to form. However, after saponification, no lye remains in the final soap product, leaving our bars safe, mild, and effective.
Are your products cosmetically assessed?
Yes, all our natural, vegan soaps are fully cosmetically assessed in the UK to ensure both safety and quality for our customers.
How long does a bar of soap last?
A standard bar of Zenoté natural handmade soap typically lasts 3-4 weeks with regular use. Factors like usage frequency and storage conditions also play a role in longevity.
How do you use soap?
A question we get asked all the time. Here’s how to get the best out of our handmade soap bars:
1. Wet the soap with warm water.
2. Lather in your hands – a little goes a long way.
3. Use a washcloth, natural loofah, or your hands to apply to your skin.
4. Rinse thoroughly.
How can I prolong the life of my soap?
Proper storage is essential for extending the life of your bar. Use a high-quality, well-draining soap dish to keep it dry between uses, and keep it out of direct water and hot steam.
What can I do if my soap goes soggy?
If your soap has absorbed excess water, simply place it on a dry facecloth or in a well-ventilated area for a week or so. Once it’s fully hardened, it’s ready to use again!
